Welcome to my slice of life 2021 story challenge! I am a first-time slicer, but not a first-time blogger. I have enjoyed blogging throughout my undergraduate career and even in my childhood. I sprinkle writing into each of my lessons as a K-6 Learning Behavior Specialist and I am thrilled to share my experiences. I hope you enjoy this journey with me, a 31-day writing challenge that begins on March 1st! Welcome to a New Teacher's Testimony!

Welcome to the SOL community. I’ll watch for your posts in March. I’m impressed you can find time for the challenge as a first-year teacher. May I suggest turning off captcha? During March we’re all carving out time to blog snd comment. You’ll likely get more comments w/out the captcha.

Welcome To Slice of Life! I have been blogging for four years which started this week all those years ago, right before the March SOL Challenge in 2017. My blogging has continued almost every day since with over 1300 posts to date! I have been heavily involved in k-12 education in a variety of roles. I look forward to hearing about your new teacher experiences!

The blog challenge might be over, but I find that I miss writing. I miss expressing my new teacher's testimony and today I felt compelled to write. We had bees, state testing, and a room-clearing all in one day. I am "abuzz" with grad school work, meetings, and thoughts of where my new journey in education will go. My mind is full of thoughts, so many thoughts. When will I no longer be considered a "new teacher?" What will my classroom look like next year? Will I have one? Where will this journey take me? So, many, thoughts..... This new teacher misses sharing her thoughts with you, so today on a Tuesday. Here I am. One new teacher on a journey all her own. One more IEP to write, and 23 days until school is out..... Oh, the thoughts, so many thoughts. Until next time...my final thought of the day. *GB

Day 23 - "I See You" - SOLSC

#SOL21 Even when our class isn't called for the school drill, I see you. Even when the lunch staff forgets to bring you your lunch and you miss half of it, I see you. Even when you aren't invited to the class because of numbers and social distancing, I see you. Even when you are forgotten to be called down for specials classes, I see you.  Even if nobody cares to see you, I will forever see you. Until next time, *GB

Day 22 - "Only 4 Days Until Spring Break!" - SOLSC

#SOL21  Monday is my least favorite day of the week. This isn't because the week offers a bazillion opportunities to advance my skills and craft, but because the weekend seems so far away. Today we were thrown a curveball - a student was absent so I had a class of 1 for the day! (I also had to run groups remotely throughout the day for the kiddos who aren't in my self-contained class. Yes, I made this schedule so essentially I did this to myself.) I think the highlight of the day today was during lunch. Since I have to eat with my students I find this time to be a chance that I can get to know them even more. So today with my class of one, I look over and see a look of complete disgust on his face. I say to him, "are you ok?" He was looking at his chicken and tells me, "chicken makes me throw up." Yep out of the mouth of wee ones, comes the slice of the day. Plus, a big chuckle out of Ms. B.
