Day 31 - "Its Been A Slice!" - SOLSC

"We cannot choose where to start and stop. Our stories are the tellers of us." - Chris Cleave

Here we are at the end. Or is this simply just another beginning's end? Well, this certainly started with a great beginning. When I heard about this challenge I immediately thought, I'm in! I will forever be thankful that again when I saw a challenge I wasn't afraid to jump in with both feet and give it my all. That is the great thing about life, incredible things happen when we simply, try. I am thankful for this journey, and I am so thankful for many of you. In honor of completing this 31-day writing challenge, I wanted to share my last post and thank some folks who made this new teacher's journey even more special. So, here's to you!

To the slice of life team, thank you for creating this space of creativity. How awesome to bring people together in such a dynamic way. I loved every minute of this and looked forward to slicing with this wonderful crew of artists each day.

To Adrienne and Lainie, thank you for making this an experience that I will never forget. Your thoughtful and poetic comments became a daily joy that I looked forward to on this journey. You both truly warmed my heart.

To Dan, thank you for being you. I absolutely adore you and hope you know that you mean more to me than I will ever be able to express. My life wouldn't be complete without you in it. You are one of my biggest champions and I would be lost without you. You are one of my greatest joys. I love you! ❤

Until next time, this gal is off to grad school, to finish this third-grade year of ups, downs, and all-arounds, and to continue to be the best new teacher I can be. After surviving being a first-year teacher during covid, I really feel invincible. Maybe I'll actually make an impact on the world and my students. I know one thing for sure, I'll never give up on them. #YouMatter!

Thank you for slicing with me and being a part of my world. I hope you enjoyed this new teacher's testimony. It has been a slice.

Until we meet again...

Lainie's comments were just that - you wrote this so wonderfully (thoughtful and poetic!). It was my first year slicing as well (but 7th teaching). Congratulations to you for embarking on this writing journey even during what had to be a crazy first year of teaching! You're killin it!

Good luck in grad school and finishing this school year :)

We miss so many great opportunities when we are afraid to jump in and try something new. Glad you took the leap.

I am so glad I got to know you this year. I know with grad school, joining in on Tuesdays might not be possible, but you never know!

Yes, here we are at the end - or, depending on how you look, another beginning. I'm so glad and grateful you chose to jump in to the challenge. Being your first year welcomer, well...what a delight it was. I've learned so much about you, learned so much FROM you. And I think about your students, who know at the heart of things they have someone who will always stand in their corner. They're lucky folks, they are.

Until next time, good luck with grad school. It's tough but if you can survive teaching in COVID times, y'all got ANYTHING. =))
